I'm in and out over this week so I just got around to responding.

No, the error I get (still) if I try to Edit from startupui is "Connection
to server blotz failed: Word too long

There is no eventual (one minute later) successful connection.

I've been merrily producing lots of good DX output as long as I start up
this same build with dx -edit.
