This can be the result of a few things. It depends on how bad the results are. OpenDX does not anti-alias thus if the edge you are referring to just has a sharp distinction between say the background and a surface or line, this is aliasing artifacts. If the problem seems much more severe within a surface but between colors this can be caused by using connection dependent data (which "images" are).

To fix your problems if #1, then render the image at twice the resolution and then reduce the result by 2. If problem #2, post your data to positions.

 Could someone give me some hints on how
 to get smoother surface edges on opendx
 images? I have opendx 4.1.1 on Red Hat 7.0
 (XFree86-4.0.1-1). I fire X window with
 startx -- -bpp 16.
 My graphics card is fully supported by XFree86.
 In general I get very good images from other
 packages such as GIMP, XV, etc. OpenDx images
 have staircase edges.
