Still testing the hardware rendering option of the OpenDX 413 Windows version
with WindowsXP and an Nvidia Geforce2 graphic card.

The response of the WinaXe support is that the desktop color depth and the X
server color depth should be EXACTLY the same in order to use hardware
rendering with GLX extensions activated.

WinaXe color depth can be set to 8, 16 or 24 bits or to "auto" . If it is set
to "auto" it is adapted to the desktop dcolor depth but with a maximum of 24
bits. But my PC allows a choice only between 16 bits and 32 bits colors
(resriction due to Windows XP or to my graphic card ?).

So the only possible choice for color depth compatibility would be 16 bits,
but in this case OpenDX does not give acces to the menu for switching between
hardware and software. Sigh...

I made a new test with the last version of X-Win32 from Starnet. In the
settings I found only a choice for PseudoColor mode that I set to off and I
kept my desktop in 32 bits colors. I set also GLX buffering on. Hardware
rendering fails again. Here is the response of the Starnet support :

So who is right? Is it an OpenDX problem, an X-server problem, or a
compatiblity problem between desktop color depth and X server color depth?
Any suggestion would be welcome.

Best regards
