I use OpenDX to write a MIFF file, then use IM convert to create the tiffs using the command
convert frames.miff frame%03d.tif The %03d bit appends the frame number with three columns, right justified. Look for more instructions on the IM web page. I use either SGI's mediaconvert or Adobe Premier to make the movies. I thnk its better to work with uncompressed "frames" when making movies and let the movie making software do the compression.
