Hello,

I recently installed debian-woody on my computer (athlon K7, xp2100) and
upgraded to a precompiled 2.4.18 kernel. I obtained the packages dx,
dx-doc, dxsamples and libdx4 using apt-get and they all installed ok.

dx started up fine, but on trying to edit a visual program I get an error
window (after ~1 min or so of apparently a "dead" dx main window) that
says "Unable to connect to dxexec" and an error msg on the xterm that
started dx that says:

------------
[karthik @mithrandir ColonModels]$ dx

Data Explorer has experienced an internal error and will terminate.

Attempting to save any modified files.
Please check saved files for integrity by reloading them.
No files needed to be saved.
The application will now abort.
------------

The data explorer window remains on screen after this and does respond to
mouse-clicks etc. Running a dx visual program though (not editing) runs
the program just fine. However, on trying to open the VPE makes dx crash
with the same set of errors again.

Is this some sort of library (lesstif/openmotif) conflict? Would
compiling dx from its source help? Any help/pointers is appreciated!

Thanks,

-K
