Hi

Every once in a while I get the following error in the tomcat log in our production setup:

Jun 6, 2012 3:48:06 PM org.apache.tomcat.util.net.JIoEndpoint$Acceptor run

SEVERE: Socket accept failed

java.net.SocketException: Too many open files

Once this happens , search stops working and does not return results for any search criteria on any project.

The only way to get it to work again is to bounce tomcat.

Please let me know the cause of this error and if there is a workaround or fix to prevent this from happening.

Shailey
