It provides both, actually: - pefconfig (or "ipmiutil lan") configures the IPMI LAN channel and PEF. - the other ipmiutil functions can operate either locally, or remotely over IPMI LAN 1.5 or 2.0 (see -N -U -P options to do that) in Linux or Windows.
