The problem is writing and maintaining it - try changing some aspect of the layout, the whole thing needs to be carefully adjusted. I mean, it's ok if you like that sort of thing, but it adds to the maintenance burden. And then what if one wants to add another aspect to check (color?) - you are stuck, while the table based approach is flexible. Those are my objections.
