The new put method should be removed again, since it makes it unclear how to 
handle the case flag. This add the semantics of a case flag per entry to the 
Dictionary, which we did not have previously.

What do you think James? Should we go back to the revision at which you 
started, and then simply the code to only rely on one final case flag?
