"quite simple everyone has their own take on how things should be and
getting people that are behind the various projects you mentioned to
agree on how things should be would be nearly impossible. C vs C++
plus outspoken individuals that want to see things implemented in
certain fashions (right/wrong that's not an issue for right now) Also
depending on the application it will be used in some designs suit 1
better than others."

Digium/Asterisk has their motives.
OpenPBX will has it's motives once consensus is gained
Yate has it's view on things, use of C++ etc.

No shoe fits every foot and no glove fits every hand.

It's a case of using the best total for your need or working toward
getting a better alternative for one's needs.

Everyone in OSS has their own views on how things should be. Also
licensing is always and forever will be a sticking point to alot of
new progress.

The real issue is given those involved what is the best course to
take. I personally like the ability to make changes to the current
code as needed for PBX based applications where it fits the bill nice.
Sure it will take time to mature and grow but that depends how many
people are involved in the effort and how things progress.

The catch 22 is business needs for many of us require a solution yesterday.

I personally would like to see the work by
Moc,jcollie, stkn, cypromis, pressurman (takes nerve to run it in
production),cypromis (automake god),opus and others pay off into a
formal release. Sure over time it may be possible to ditch the forked
code which is quite common in forked projects that they more away
further and further from the original base.

I've also expressed my interest to Moc privately about spearheading
the effort for a release. I have also noticed a few others have shown
interest as well so I'll put together my thoughts and it can be
discussed.
