Hi all
Based on the success of the event last in year in Stockholm, it was
suggested we should run another this year.
Given that it's halfway through the year already, I figure we should
probably start planning it.
Probably the first thing to decide is: location and venue. Can I have
some suggestions?
I'll start with a couple: somewhere in Southern France - your part of
the world Franck - or perhaps here in the UK around Cambridge.
Hi Julius,
Good timing. I'd vote for Cambridge. Embecosm is willing to provide
support in the UK.
Another idea may be to hold it in conjunction with another bigger conference.
Bad idea. The bigger conference would swamp us and add a large
bureaucracy and cost.
It might be feasible to pair up with a similar sized conference with the
same demographic (open source, large hobbyist contingent). Even then you
risk losing focus.
With regard to time of the year, October again is probably about right.
I'd suggest a weekend in September. By October, Universities are
starting up, so it is harder for academics & students to escape. I
suggest avoiding the OSHCamp weekend of 14/15 September.
So, let's get the ball rolling shall we?
Cheers!
Julius
