We are trying to solve this on the OpenSG 2.0 build.  The idea is to 
have one single build system based on scons and to automatically find as 
many of the dependencies as possible.  So far the progress has been very 
good.  We have even managed to remove all of the compiler define flags 
that you currently have to use when compiling against OpenSG.
