I tried that and also spent the evening throughly reinstalling pulseaudio and cleaning it up, afterwards Openshot still has the same exact slow playback problem and every other application that plays video has no problem other than melt.

If I preview or play, the playback starts with a normal speed playback for about a second and then it starts to creep extremely slowly from then on. The audio also starts to get glitchy. This happens when previewing and playback for any video or audio, I tried different formats, and they all seem to have the exact same behavior.
