Can we start discussing how it would be possible to use GPT3 technology to
make NPCs that can hold a conversation in Opensim?
It should be possible I think,
I am trying to look into the hooks needed.
Share anything you might have found on that front.

Like others, I suggest you have the chatbot act as a web service externally and place the chatbot scripts in a suitable object you can attach to your avatar (either invisible or something like an iPad if you want have it visible). We did this a long time ago with MyCyberTwin chat bots from a company in Australia who had a free service and had a Second Life/OpenSim script to connect them in world (at the time XMLRPC) and they worked quite well. One fun thing is to put two of them near each other and see what they chat between themselves! But MyCyberTwin is no longer available.

And there is a simple script using the more up to date HTTP method to connect a PandoraBot into an object in OpenSim on Fred Beckhusen's open source script library
