I believe the intent of the ON/Nevada development process team, and the intent of Sun when it opened up Solaris, and the intent of the ON developers who were part of the initial ON "community"[1] was exactly as you say. I raised comments WRT this topic on the CAB mailing list[2] as the constitution was being drafted; the CAB members chose to ignore them, and the constitution was presented to the community at large without any connection to the ARC community. Thus my unsatisfactory and very-much-frustrated response to your earlier message: we have gotten to the worst possible result, and are keeping the ship from sinking by behaving as if the situation is other than it really is. This obviously (and justifiably) frustrates Roy :-) I see it as an application of "when the rules are ambiguous or disagree with the right thing to do, change the rules". -John ____ [1] yes, I know the transition from CAB to constitutional driven OGB wasn't handled well (at all?) for ON...
