Motif is not legacy software. GTK+ is one of many widget sets unrelated to Motif.

IST is another company providing support for Motif. (I worked on Motif, OSF/1, and DCE for the OSF back in the day, and still do work for the Open Group on occasion) You _do_ want to use Motif in your programs because it is a standardized widget set developed by the Open Software Foundation (OSF). Now known as The Open Group (of X/Open, X Consortium, and OSF), Motif was made free software in 2000. Prior to that, a small source license fee was required. Motif is stable, full featured, and standardized, and very well documented with a lot of tools. Many, many free and commercial applications use Motif. Motif has a distinctive look and feel which you'll probably recognize right away. Other X toolkits, in my (biased :-) opinion, are just reinventing the wheel (and many subtle bugs) with no real benefit to application developers or end users. --Dean On Tue, 23 Jun 2009, Garrett D'Amore wrote: > nitesh wrote: > > Does motif library comes with open solaris .. or i need to install it > > seperately.. > > if it comes . how can i use it in my programs?? > > > I don't think it is included. > > You don't want to use it in your programs.
