My memory isn't the greatest tool in the world and I have been sitting here for some twenty minutes trying to remember how I managed to change the console font in Solaris 2.5.1 for x86 years ago. OKay, well, I have not been just sitting here. I went to a Solaris 8 machine and started looking for bldfamily and convertfont but they were not to be found. I did find makebdf which allowed me to do this : bash-3.00$ makebdf /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/F3/Courier.f3b Creating Courier6.bdf Creating Courier8.bdf Creating Courier10.bdf Creating Courier12.bdf Creating Courier14.bdf Creating Courier16.bdf Creating Courier18.bdf Creating Courier.afm Which is at least in the same format as ./usr/src/uts/intel/io/vgatext/8859-1.bdf I really do recall changing the font on my old Solaris 2.5.1 x86 machine. I may be wrong and I am thinking about NeWs or something even older. I remember watching the machine boot and then at some point in the boot sequence the whole console font would make a snap change from the default blocky looking thing to the OCR font that I carefully crafted way back when. Was there not a utility in Solaris 2.5.1 x86 that allowed this sort of thing? Dennis Clarke ps: I may be mixed up and am thinking Apollo or even some other workstation brand. _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
