Last I checked, Ian is responding in email here.
Yeah, but fuzzily.
Ask more specific questions then, if you feel he's answering fuzzily.
Sorry, that's a bit too corporate for my tastes.<wink> No
guarantees and
any type of recording/transcript/audio, so if you're interested,
show up
or call-in.
Touché.
More seriously: Barrier to entry.
Understood, but I look at it this way Chris...I run the user group on my
own time, for a cause that I believe in. Yes, I believe in my job, and it
is related to some extent...but I am not paid in any way to work on
OpenSolaris.
I provide a user group that is completely free to users, and I get
engineers to speak at the group, on their own time, they're not paid for
doing it in most cases.
My manager eats the cost of the call-in which is free in the U.S.
I am able to do this in the area where I live, maybe coincidence, but
that's the way it works for me.
Aside from coming over to your house and reading a bedtime story to you
about OpenSolaris, WTF can I do to make it easier for you and others in
the community to attend? You could always start your own OpenSolaris user
group and have at it yourself, proving how wrong I've been with SVOSUG,
and seeing just how easy it is to coordinate everything yourself. That
might prove to be a great learning experience for you, have you not done
that type of work in the past.<wink>
