It is possible to stop it from wanting to use the entire hard drive, however one has to override the installer's default partitioning scheme (which, as you've correctly identified, is the entire hard drive). I haven't used the installer for this purpose for a while but it's highly likely that I will be in about 8-9 hours time from now; I'll refresh my memory on what the buttons and knobs look like and try to find some pointers for you there. Incidentally, is that other OS one of Microsoft's products or is it another Unix or Linux (or something else)?
