Last time I checked Apple kit wasn't any cheaper than similar spec'd out Sun box. Could you please provide direct references so we can see what you are looking at.
Also be mindful of support levels, warranty, supportability and so on. Sun support their boxes for longer than any other vendor I have come across. Apple the second least (toshiba being the worst).
