I don't understand your question.  The choice of license to use is the
author's alone.  In the case of the OpenSolaris code I thought we were
supposed to discuss on opensolaris-discuss, Sun chose CDDL, which is
an OSI-approved license.  You're right that it could have chosen some
other license.

Whether others can or can't use some software because of the license
doesn't seem to me like an issue that the development group can do
much about.

Let's please not revive the silly license wars of months past.  We can
just #include them to the thread and be done with it.

I didn't say it wasn't a concern or wasn't a legitimate topic, only
that I think it's off topic on the opensolaris-discuss mailing list.

There's precious little that any of us here can do about it in either
direction anyway, so even if there were some solid suggestions or
clear problems to solve, the whole discussion would be moot anyway.

I'm suggesting that looking at the code and what we want to do with it
are much more interesting tasks on a development list than trying to
decipher Sun's (or anyone's) business model.
