Hello Hartmut, MartUX is not ready for end-user experience. I recommend that you choose one of the following free downloads: Solaris 9, 10, SXCE or (Indiana_AI). As soon as Indiana_AI can be installed from LiveCD, rather than via AI, this might make more sense for you. On caiman-discuss there was a discussion about this, today. Given that you only have the two UltraSPARC_IIi 270MHz chip flavours, and not very much memory, go with Solaris 9 (less features, less modern, but faster on old hw). Or Solaris 10 (speed still somehow "usable" on a 270MHz). But Solaris 11 based distros will not be very usable on this CPU / mem combination. Solaris 8 will run even faster on that low-end config, but the free iso downloads disappeared last year, due to EOL and end of support for Solaris 8, maybe I can send you a few Sol8 media kit CD's if you like, which I once got on ebay. Much fun. %martin _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
