Will they bother at all? Forcing a change in direction, and forcing new technologies on customers, will lead customers to evaluate their use of the platform. Given the constraints on most IT departments, adding new technologies to the mix is unlikely, so rather than migrate to a new Solaris technology, they're likely to simply migrate to RHEL (or whatever other platforms they already have deployed). If there was a Solaris 11 based on SXCE released, I would just roll it out and stand a good chance of using its strengths to increase its usage. Gain the new technologies, easy to deploy, compatible with both the software and administrative frameworks we already have. With OpenSolaris, it's frankly not ready for testing let alone deployment. -- -Peter Tribble http://www.petertribble.co.uk/ - http://ptribble.blogspot.com/ _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
