You're joking right? I see requests for sponsorship come in and get responded to on the request-sponsor alias. It *is* possible to collaborate with Sun. Others have done it and that's demonstrably provable by looking at the ON integration log (for one instance) that shows integrations having been contributed by community members. What won't happen is Sun isn't going to pony up 100% of the resources to get things done. The community has to be willing to follow the process (all of them) and actually *do* the work.
