Auditing is a standard clause. I won't say that it's harmless, because a software audit in a large organization can be rather disruptive, but you'll find that pretty much all commercial software has it. I can see why. If you have reason to believe that a company isn't properly licensing things, you call for an audit, where typically they have to show that they have licenses for all of their software that cover how its being used (e.g. having a Solaris Express license wouldn't count if it's being used as a server). For an individual it's easier. As long as you keep a copy of your license, you'd simply produce it. However I'm not aware of anyone auditing individuals, as it would be kind of pointless.
I don't suggest using Solaris Express, but the audit clause wouldn't stop me. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
