Auditing is a standard clause. I won't say that it's harmless, because a 
software audit in a large organization can be rather disruptive, but you'll 
find that pretty much all commercial software has it. I can see why. If you 
have reason to believe that a company isn't properly licensing things, you call 
for an audit, where typically they have to show that they have licenses for all 
of their software that cover how its being used (e.g. having a Solaris Express 
license wouldn't count if it's being used as a server). For an individual it's 
easier. As long as you keep a copy of your license, you'd simply produce it. 
However I'm not aware of anyone auditing individuals, as it would be kind of 
pointless.

I don't suggest using Solaris Express, but the audit clause wouldn't stop me.
