Have you studied iSCSI? With iSCSI you can export a ZFS volume via LAN. The 
client thinks that the ZFS volume is an internal SCSI hard disk. Therefore you 
can format the ZFS volume and install WinXP or Linux on top. And boot from the 
"internal SCSI disk" over LAN. 

I think COMSTAR can also do that?
