You are not alone, don't worry about that. :)

In fact, there are many people in your situation (like me), and our numbers are 
growing as the community grows around the world. I am not technical at all, and 
I talk to new people as I do community organizing all over the place. The 
OpenSolaris project can be confusing at times, no question about it -- the 
OpenSolaris distro is new, there are hundreds of development projects and 
communities and user groups that make up the main community at opensolaris.org, 
and there are other sites out there as well. Not to mention that we are going 
through a major site transition right now.

There have been some good resources in this thread, but I wanted to add one 
more: you may want to subscribe to the advocacy-discuss mailing list. The 
reason is that the Advocacy Community is home to all of the OpenSolaris User 
Groups, and there are thousands of non-kernel types out there who are new and 
just getting involved.
