Thanks for clearing that up daveu and rlhamil. I guess the best way to do it then is for the OpenSolaris x86 and Solaris / SPARC community to use peer-pressure to get the VLC media player guys to host a package on their site so that it's almost as easy to install VLC on Solaris as it is to install it on Microsoft Windows (all the MS Windows users I know are already using VLC as their default player for everything now).
Maybe we could do the same with mplayer as well. That way Sun Microsystems can't be held legally liable for distributing anything they're not supposed to be distributing. Ok, please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me for asking this, but did anybody here ever try the version of Microsoft Windows Media Player that was available for Solaris .... once upon a time... in a far, far away land.... ? * ducks to avoid being hit by rotten tomatoes * -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
