I'm pretty sure the OpenSolaris instance in the VM is also suffering from lack of RAM, possibly to the point of fork() or malloc() failing.

Graphics are Intel GMA 950; no idea what the rest of the chips are. I think the kicker is that I only have 1GB RAM right now. If I had 2, I could give the VM 1 and it would probably do fine. Which is why I wish that either preloaded vdi images, or a text installer (less RAM hungry) were available; Solaris can run (esp. with swap available) with less RAM than it needs during installation (although of course with that little RAM, hungry apps will perform poorly). -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
