Well, if you really want to get rid of the gnome desktop in 2008.11, you could just type in:
$ pfexec svcadm disable gdm or something like that and gnome should leave you alone (even after multiple reboots) until you type in: $ pfexec svcadm enable gdm to turn it back on. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
