Problem: I want to change the boot partitions to ZFS (for mirroring) but I don't want to reinstall everything. Is there a simple way to do this? or a complicated way that can be explained step by step.
Background: I have an ultra 40 AMD x86_64. I have installed the latest general release of opensolaris on it already along with CIFS. I wanted to use this as a home server. My 3 1 Tera byte drives arrived. I had already set up mirroring so swapping out 1 of the old 250 gig drives was a piece of cake. Nice work on ZFS, it is very nice. Even I was able to figure out how to use it without much help. I then quickly realized that my boot drive was not set up with ZFS. I want to change the boot partitions to ZFS but I don't want to reinstall everything. Is there a simple way to do this? or a complicated way that can be explained step by step. I am a DBA by profession so, I have very good unix skills at the user level but I realize that I don't know what I am doing quickly when I start doing more traditionally Unix Sys Admin tasks. Thanks for your help. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
