You can do a text-based install of Solaris Express Community Edition (SXCE), 
but not OpenSolaris. You can get SXCE from here:

http://www.opensolaris.org/os/downloads/

The text mode installer for SXCE also allows you to select whether you want to 
install to UFS or ZFS. The downside of SXCE is that it is a bigger download, 
and it doesn't include the new packaging system.
