Thanks for helping out! The Device Driver Utility identified the video card as "ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics]" (vendor-id 1002, device-id 9612) and the driver being used is called "vgatext". Is this the wrong driver?
I've attached the Xorg log file.
