OK , there's been a fair bit of confusion because of the subject line. 1) The comment/question was w/ regard to OpenSolaris 2008.05, NOT snv_86_rc3.
2) The grub menu installed w/ OS 2008.05 was the source of the "snv_86_rc3" misidentification. Thanks to all for their help. I downloaded the nfo driver binary package from: http://trisk.acm.jhu.edu/SFE/SFEnicdrv/ and I'm now happily running OpenSolaris 2008.05 which has the distinction of being the only one of 3 OS releases that I could get working in 3 days of aggravation. Both Solaris 10 U5 and Fedora 9 failed miserably for differing reasons. As several people have pointed out there's an intrinsic tension between the QC we expect of Solaris and having things appear to work from the start FWIW the laptop in question is a Presario F767NR. Thanks! Reg This message posted from opensolaris.org
