Yes, I have the lifewithsolaris VLC on my ThinkPad but the repository is no longer available. Unfortunately I have no idea how to transfer what is on my ThinkPad over to my new workstation.
You are correct about about the problem of now having to "re-invent the wheel" when it comes to multimedia on OpenSolaris. Its very hard for Sun to convince people to switch from Linux, Windows, or OS X when something so basic doesn't work. I feel really bad for the poor guy in Japan who got bullied by some lawyers. It might have all been a bluff with no force of law behind it, but I guess the guy didn't want to risk it, or spend tons of money to win the fight. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
