Umm, deprecation doesn't mean it won't work. It just means that it's not cool to do so anymore.
test and others should work for foreseeable future... but what that doc says is more along the lines of - If you're contributing to opensolaris, please adhere to these guidelines. Frankly I find the guidelines to be quite sensible. Shell scripts have a tendency to evolve into pure evil. This would (hopefully) let sanity prevail. This message posted from opensolaris.org
