"please don't use this in scripts you send us" != "going away".

Style guides are about wanting a consistent, easy-to-read (in someone's
opinion, not necessarily yours) appearance, not about what's going to break
tomorrow.

But scripting in C-shell _is_ evil (it's so-so interactively compared
to tcsh, bash, or better yet, ksh93):
