A happy followup on this: I removed my Solaris partition, and started a desktop text mode installation of NV27, and it seems to have labelled the disk properly; bringing up a terminal after the installer wrote the VTOC and running "format" showed that the disk label seems to have some sensible geometry written to it.
To any Sun folks who know details about the installation process: Is there a rationale why the graphical installer might write a disk label that does not have the correct geometry information, and the text mode installer might get things right? -Jason :-) This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list [email protected]
