I am totally new to Solaris, but I've tried already Windows (of course), linux
Ubuntu, Mandriva and Kubuntu (I know, it's the same). In all of them ,
configuring Internet is a bliss (Above all Windows, thought I hate it). You
just open a program, say : uh.. pppoe username, password and there you are!
connected!. I had to do a little more in Ubuntu, but basically it was that
easy. WHY, and i repeat, WHY! do I even have to modify any file to get Internet
working on Solaris? why isn't there a program that resolves everything for me!?
Coming from Sun Microsystems, I'm totally amazed. The company that developed
Java, that loves the internet: The thing is, I know no person that could
configure an internet connection on Solaris. I've been reading forums, no
newbie person could ever get his connection to work, at the same time,
everybody alwasy response modify this file, and then that, run this command,
reboot, run this other command, jump in a leg, touch your nose while ogling lef
t, cross your fingers, use this command to check if it works, and not
surprisingly, it doesn't... I've spent already a month trying to connect
internet and I can't...
In my country, the only way of connecting to internet available for non
enterprise users is PPPoE.. And I just can't do it, I don't think its right to
take a course on Solaris, just to get Internet working. well... sorry for my
rampage... it was a psychological burden I've been carrying for a time. Now,
could anyone please, pretty please, tell a list of step from the very beginning
on how to configure pppoe. I'am using Solaris 10 sxde, my computer is an Core 2
quad, with a realtek network card.

Thank you
