I managed to get Solaris installed on the NB2000 on the SD card with not much of an issue. It didn't like the SD-SATA converter, not recognising it, but put the SD card in the memory slot and it installed happily.
Unfortunately, it installed a 32 bit version and the 1.5gig drive failed for the same reason. Why Kubuntu 9.10 should be able to see it, I don't know.
