Hi there,

I am running Solaris from a 2008.05 installation of Solaris Express Community
edition (build 93). I would like to upgrade to 2009.06 release developer
edition. I found information on how to upgrade to 2009.06 from 2008.11 using
the Update manager
(http://webcast-west.sun.com/interactive/09D02123/index.html). However, I was
wondering if I can upgrade directly from 2008.05. Is this likely to break
things? Is it safer to just wipe out the system and reinstall 2009.06?

The other problem I encountered is that there is no pkg utility in 2008.05
community edition, which would be required to perform the upgrade I mentioned.
I suppose I can install SUNWipkg package from the 2009.6 CD image, which
contains the pkg utility. Do you know if this is likely to cause any
compatibility problems?

Thanks!
