I think GParted is on developement LiveCDs, not on 2009.6 release CD. Anyway, GParted works fine, athough sometimes Windows partition might need to be defragmented prior shrinking.

GParted is actually on the OpenSolaris LiveCD. If you boot off of the LiveCD, you will have access to the gparted tool.

Just google "dual boot OpenSolaris Windows" and you'll see a quite a few hits describing the process (including this list's archives).

Hi!

I'll install OpenSolaris tomorrow for the first time.
Is it easy to configure the dual boot?

I don't want to lose my WinXP partition.

Thank you!
The OpenSolaris installer does not have the ability to resize partitions so if you do not have free unpartitioned space for available for your OpenSolaris partition then you will need to use a third party tool to do this, such as the gparted live CD (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php).

Once OpenSolaris is installed your machine will boot to the OpenSolaris grub menu which will list your existing Windows installation as an option.

Cheers

Andrew.
