Maybe I haven't made myself clear enough... The code in question is no code which I have written (in this case I wouldn't ask such a question) but from SUN (the J2SE 1.4 sourcecode). I need to compile this for some research I'm currently doing at work. So I can assure you that hell will freeze over before I go and fix their bugs because I haven't all day for this task to complete. And no, I can't use a newer J2SE source distribution (J2SE 5 or 6) because version 1.4 is required. I hope this clears things up a little bit.
