I don't think the issue is that plugins and books are required, or that developers cannot edit the files manually (although, I have to agree that I have experienced and been told about alot of bad developers lately). The issue as I see it, is that the management that needs to sign off on using the new technology needs to feel that it is going to be supported in the long term. Tools, books, articles and the like generally mean that the number of people supporting the product is substancial, and development, bug fixes and improvements will continue.
As noted in a few weblogs lately, many companies use open source projects as a way to get free development, and are less likely to use projects that require them to spend development time on enhancements / bug fixes. This is unfortunate, but the truth - especially when you look at how many companies use Struts, and compare it to how many companies contribute to the code base. Having said all that, I would like to make an offer to help in any way that I can. I only started using WW2/XW after meeting Jason and Mike CB at the TSS Symposium, and I am very impressed at the level of code and ease of use. /Ian >From Down & Around, Inc.
