Some distros don't use /etc/environment or /etc/profile for sudo or root.
To get around this, you can add to /etc/bash.bashrc:

export PATH="${PATH}:/usr/local/rvm/bin"
export PATH="${PATH}:/usr/local/share/nikto"
export PATH="${PATH}:/usr/share/wapiti"
