Eric,

I do not doubt that other RPMs are missing but the RPMs i pointed are
base prereqs. Without those, no way you can use OSCAR.

I have to admit that i do not know how FC8 works and the weird point is
that if you look at the mirrors (such as
http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/fedora/linux/releases/8/Everything/i386/os/Packages/),
the RPMs that are missing on your system are actually available.
I do not know why your DVDs do not include those RPMs.
