By "not install completely", I'm assuming that you mean that there's no
SRPM.

In any version of OSCAR, you can still download a tarball from either LAM
or MPICH and compile them from scratch with whatever configuration you
wish. The LAM and MPICH RPMs that are provided are "stock" and will fit
many people's needs, but if you need something more/special, a tarball
build might be your best bet.

The LAM/MPI that has been included in OSCAR has always been SMP-aware.
There's also always been an SRPM for LAM.
IIRC, there was some configuration changes with MPICH in later versions of
OSCAR, but I'm not sure a) what they were, or b) whether those changes
were for 1.3 or not. At the very least, there is an SRPM for MPICH in
1.4, so you can look at the configuration that was used.
