I have myself looked into getting a patent last year. What I found was that it's very expensive for the *average Joe* to get a patent approved in EU. And even if I got the patent, I wouldn't have the money to defend it in case of infringement. Makes me wanna cry :o)  I believe the original intent was to protect the little guy; it still does in theory, but the barrier to entry is to high, so in reality it does not imo.

Hank how the h... can your afford all those patents? U a rich man? :o)

Not true. I have a patent that has been issued in europe.
