other people here to have OSFlash becoming more automated, but I
personnally don't think there is a substainable business for you with
selling this kind of services, since there's already quite a lot of
competition there, CVSDude being just one of them."
I have to admit I was thinking the same thing Aral. I know that this level of attention is necessary - I think you're right in the direction you want to take it - and believe me, I understand the time factor ;)
so, if you can't bank on revenue for a tool you need, then maybe it's a matter of it being a paid project for "you" to create for OSFlash - make sense?
What I'm getting at is that somehow, you get paid to flush out the OSFlash system just like any other consulting gig. Once you've made that deliverable, your life shouldn't really have to change (IE: games/betas/speaking). If anything, you'd have more time with the new system in place and maintaining it.
Sure would be nice to have it as an open source project based in flex/Red5 (doesn't have to be ;) and we (the royal we community) contribute. I mean, it's the least we could do - no? We have plenty of OS resources to build it both in technologies and people power and we could all take some time and invest in it.
Other than that, maybe you could partner up with a hosting co that needs this type of system built - they pay you, you share ownership in the code base, then you move on with your life. I personally don't like the idea, but it IS an idea.
LOVE YOU man, I'll be the first one to sign up and help if we decide the OS version is the way to go. If you're gonna put your life/projects on hold, then I think it appropriate to do the same. You've given me opportunities I'd never realized anywhere else.
