Most "All Flash" people underestimate what a browser really does for the user (usabilitywise). Also i guess the "unprofessional" design is part of the flair of sites like myspace. Maybe people feel less intimidated if the design is not perfectly clean. And last but not least, if you want people to extend the site with their own creations, html is still easier and doesn't cost you anything.
